University Drive Mobility Improvements Planning Study is Underway

December 6, 2012

The University Drive corridor was identified in the 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan and the 2009 Broward County Transit’s Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA) as one of the most critical north-south transportation corridors in the county. The corridor was also identified as a Premium Transit corridor from Sample Road south into Miami-Dade County. The purpose of the study is to evaluate and facilitate the implementation of a premium transit system, while strengthening the existing local transit service. The study will combine the transit planning and the congestion management/livability planning process and results are expected to include a number of recommendations: short term to relieve congestion and improve mobility and mid to long term to include premium transit alternatives. More information and opportunities to get involved will be available shortly.  In the meantime, if you have any comments or questions please contact Roxana Ene here at the Broward MPO, ener@browardMPO.org or 954-876-0042
