The Community Bus service fits squarely in line with the Broward MPO's commitment to achieve optimum mobility with emphasis on mass transit. It is for this reason that the Broward MPO is committed to assisting all of its municipalities.

The Community Bus Services:

  • Strengthen Communities by offering a locally coordinated amenity which provides a unique friendly service linking residents with the places they need to go to in the cities that they live.
  • Move People by providing a vital first/last mile connection to the Broward County Transit system. The routes are created at the local level, meaning each municipality can tailor the program to meet the specific needs of their residents.
  • Creates Jobs by linking employers with the local workforce.

Funding

Community Buses are funded through various means. South Florida Regional Transportation Authority fully funds the Tri-Rail Shuttle Buses which provide free transit to and from Tri-Rail Stations. Broward County Community Bus program provides funding assistance to the majority of municipalities with a Community Bus service. Municipalities have the option to charge a fare. The cities of Hollywood and Sunrise fully fund their own Community Bus service.
