Schedule of Events:

• 8:00 am - 9:30 am - Registration, Networking & Continental Breakfast
   
• 8:30 am - 9:15 am - Transit to Venue Guided Walk & Bike Ride
  (Sponsored by Safe Street Summit Partners Tri-Rail & Broward County Transit)
  The guided walk will be an excellent opportunity to greet participants at Bus and Tri-Rail stops that are in proximity to the venue. A conference team member will lead a safe walking and biking tour. Those participating in the activity will have their names added to the raffle that will be conducted following the morning plenary session.
   
• 9:30 am - 9:45 am - Welcome to the Safe Streets Summit
   
• 9:45 am - 10:30 am - Identifying the Bait in the Complete Streets Network
  Complete Streets can cost taxpayers less to build, run and maintain, and Smart Growth America’s recent report, Building Better Budgets, draws on successful private and public sector lessons that can help Broward identify the bait in the Complete Streets network. Communities nationwide have found that smart growth development, including Complete Streets, would benefit their overall financial health. These policies can help communities save money now, reduce future liabilities and use targeted investment strategies to spur economic development. Mr. Millar will present Smart Growth America’s advice on planning for economic and fiscal health, and supporting Complete Streets.
   
• 10:30 am - 12:00 pm - The Right Tackle for Complete Streets
  Speakers will open the session describing the right tackle to be used in gaining buy-in and implementing complete streets. The big catch panel will continue discussing how each of the organizations represented are working towards strategies for everyone to get hooked on complete streets.
   
• 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm - Unrestricted Bag Limit Ceremony
  Safe Streets Awards 2015
  Safe Streets Summit 2016 Unveiling
  Lunch is unrestricted, and the highly anticipated 2015 Safe Streets Awards will follow. Who has the greatest transit amenity? Who has done the best job engaging the community? Who is the Complete Streets Champion of the year? You might still have time to share your thoughts, since voting closes January 8, 2015. The awards are followed by the big announcement, the location of the 2016 Safe Streets Summit. This session sets the tone for the exhilarating afternoon sessions with renown local, regional, and national figures digging deep into the fun of luring and catching Complete Streets.
   
• 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm - Luring Stakeholders into Complete Streets
  When was the last time you heard someone wanted to hang out by a transit stop, or enjoyed their time while waiting for the next connection? This session will have you rethink public spaces, and provide you with a realistic menu of options to employ across Broward. Simple and unique tactics will attract all types of users, and effectively lure in the public to support complete streets planning and implementation.  
   
• 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm - Caught in Creating Complete Streets
  Federal, state, and local authorities that are key to reeling in complete streets will discuss how to use allocated funding and the implications of recently passed regulations, standards, and policies. This session will provide the opportunity to gain insight on how best to position the local planning documents to maximize the chance for implementation of complete streets elements in each transportation project.
